Information

Ileia is a perfecture situated on the northwestern part of the Peloponnese and it neighbors with Achaia to the northeast, Arcadia to the west and Messinia to the south. The highest mountain is Erymanthos.
The capital city is Pyrgos. The birthplace of the Olympic Games, Olympia is located to the south of Ileia. It was here that the first Olympic Games took place, and have since gone on to become the largest and most spectacular sporting event in the whole world. The archaeological site of Olympia is a place which every visitor to this area must visit. There are many sites to visit, such as the Prytaneion, where the winners of the Games were honored, the Philippeion, the Heraion, and other buildings and temples.  Some of the most famous beaches are: Zacharo, Loutra Kaiafa, Kourouta, Amaliada, Loutra Kyllinis.  Also, the waterfalls of Neda and Erymanthos canyon are definitely worth the visit.
